“Dance dialogue in progress: the language and the body”

The research for the presentation began with dialogues between the two choreographers and their two different cultures of China and Brazil. The shock of being in a foreign country, the loneliness, and the struggle with a new environment were the inspirations of this collaborative work at the very beginning. The work is a practical example of a process in dance, and it questions how we can consider it as a creative tool to keep reinventing our choreographic methodologies. We would like to share with others how two choreographers with vastly different cultural backgrounds approach the beginning, middle and resultant end of a choreographic process, and how the influences of our home environments, in contrast with our new existence, affect this process.
